Vol. 49 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parcels Post Regulations.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if in view of the confusion and delays occasioned by the new regulations for parcels from other countries he will issue a new form of customs declaration for goods by parcels post embodying all the new particulars now required on the outside of parcels.

The Post Office has not received any complaints of any confusion or delay occasioned by the new customs regulations for parcels from other countries. The customs declaration forms required to be affixed to such parcels are issued by the country of origin, and steps have been taken to acquaint the British and other administrations with the new customs regulations.

Arising out of the Minister's answer will he say if he will take steps to ascertain if it is a fact that the matter I have inquired about is causing confusion and will he see that a form is issued embodying all these particulars?

Mr. Boland

Yes, if a complaint is formally made. So far there have been no complaints. I have no knowledge of any complaint, but if the Department get complaints they will be investigated.
