Vol. 50 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loans Under Housing Act, 1932.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state when the proposed legislation which will enable local authorities to grant loans under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, will be introduced.

The Deputy has in mind, presumably, the difficulties which have arisen in matters of security and legal costs in connection with advances being made by local authorities under the Small Dwellings (Acquisition) Acts to farmers in occupation of Land Commission holdings. I am advised that these difficulties can be overcome by amendment of these Acts, and proposals are under consideration for an Amending Bill which I hope to be in a position to introduce early in this session.
