Vol. 50 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Application for Housing Grant.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that Mr. Robert Ely, Moymar, Moyne, Templemore, Co. Tipperary, has reconstructed his house under the terms of the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, and claims a grant of £40 in respect thereof; whether he is further aware that an inspector passed the construction as having reached a stage that entitled the owner to payment of half the grant in October, 1933: whether he is further aware that notwithstanding several applications from the owner neither the grant nor any portion thereof has been paid to date, and whether, in view of these facts, he will see that the grant is paid forthwith.

Robert Ely's application was investigated by one of the Department's inspectors in October last. A specification and estimate of the cost of the work and a certificate that the house was capable of reconstruction were prepared by him. In November last the applicant furnished the necessary documents as to valuation, etc., showing that his application came within the requirements of the Act. A certificate for payment of an instalment amounting to half the grant has been issued by the inspector. A form of claim has been sent to the applicant and on its return to the Department, duly completed, payment of the instalment will be made.
