Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing in County Galway.

Mr. Brodrick

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state (1) what local authorities in County Galway have submitted proposals under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, for the erection of houses in their area, and (2) the total number of houses in each area (a) proposed for erection, (b) approved for erection, and (c) completed before 1st February, 1934.

(1) The following local authorities in County Galway have submitted proposals under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, for the erection of houses:—Commissioners for the Galway Board of Health and Public Assistance; Ballinasloe Urban District Council; Galway Urban District Council; Loughrea Town Commissioners and Tuam Town Commissioners.

(2) (a) The total number of houses proposed for erection in each area is as follows:—

(c) The total number of houses completed before the 1st February, 1934, was 36 in Galway Urban District.

In the case of Ballinasloe and Galway Urban District Councils and Tuam Town Commissioners the local authority is negotiating for the acquisition of land for the erection of the additional houses for the proposed schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state (1) the total number of houses in County Galway completed by public utility societies under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932 in (a) urban areas; (b) rural districts by the 1st February, 1934; (2) the total number in which final certificates have been issued; (3) the total number of houses approved for erection in (a) urban areas; (b) rural districts; (4) the total number of applications received in respect of (a) urban areas and (b) rural districts in Galway.

(1) The total number of houses in County Galway completed by public utility societies under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, up to the 1st February, 1934, was as follows:—

(a)

(2) The total number of houses in which final certificates have been issued to public utility societies up to the 1st February, 1934, was 30.

(3) The total number of houses approved for erection by public utility societies up to the 1st February, 1934, was as follows:—

(4) It is not possible to state the number of applications received where certificates of approval have not been issued.

Applications for grants are usually lodged with the local appointed officers for investigation and report and do not reach this Department until certificates of approval have been issued.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state (1) the total number of houses in County Galway completed by private persons under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932 in (a) urban and (b) rural districts by the 1st February, 1934; (2) the total number in which final certificates have been issued: (3) the total number of houses approved for erection in (a) urban and (b) rural districts and (4) the total number of applications received in respect of (a) urban and (b) rural districts in Galway.

(1) The total number of houses in County Galway completed by private persons under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, up to the 1st February, 1934, was as follows:—

(2) The total number of houses in which final certificates have been issued to private persons up to the 1st February, 1934, was 129.

(3) The total number of houses approved for erection by private persons up to the 1st February, 1934, was as follows:—
