Vol. 51 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Claremorris Old Age Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that Mrs. Mary Clarke, Claremorris, County Mayo, was recommended an increase of her old age pension from 4/- to 10/- per week by the Ballindine Sub-Committee; that the claimant complied with the requirements of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1932, by transferring her interest in her holding of land to her son; that the poor law valuation of her holding was under £5, and if he will state why the recommendation of the sub-committee was disallowed by his Department.

The question whether the claimant was entitled to an old age pension was disallowed on the ground that her means, as calculated for old age pension purposes, were not within the statutory limit for the receipt of a pension.
