Vol. 51 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Claim.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment benefit is not being paid to Patrick Bolger, High Street, Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny.

Patrick Bolger, High Street, Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny, made a claim to unemployment benefit on the 25th August, 1933, which was authorised for payment of benefit in respect of the unexhausted contributions standing to his credit in the Unemployment Fund. After he had received payment of 28 days' benefit, payment had to be suspended pending the investigation of certain irregularities which had come to the knowledge of the Department. As a result of those enquiries which, owing to their nature, were unavoidably protracted, Mr. Bolger's claim was disallowed for six weeks from and including the 12th September, 1933. The claimant may, if he so desires, appeal against the disallowance of his claim and steps have been taken to have this fact brought to his notice, but in any event any benefit due to him can and will be paid at an early date.
