Vol. 51 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unfinished Relief Works.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether he has received complaints or reports alleging that the amounts allocated from the relief schemes votes were not sufficient to enable a number of relief works to be completed in a satisfactory manner; whether such cases have been or will be investigated by his Department; and whether the necessary additional sum will be made available for the completion of any works where such complaints or reports can be confirmed by Departmental investigation.

Complaints of the kind referred to have been received in a number of cases. In connection with every minor relief work which is undertaken a report is furnished by the inspector in charge in which he states whether or not it is necessary or desirable to continue or complete the work; and in the allocation of any grant which may be made available for the coming year prior consideration will be given to such unfinished works as it may appear necessary to complete.
