Vol. 51 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killing Off Bull Calves.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, before he makes any decision about killing off bull calves which it is reported he is contemplating adopting as a means of dealing with the cattle crisis, he will instead preserve the young stock on which the future of the industry depends and kill off the old and bad uddered cows instead.

Dr. Ryan

In addition to the scheme for the killing off of surplus calves, particulars of which have already been announced, it is proposed to make arrangements for dealing with diseased cows and also old cows.
