Vol. 52 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Old Age Pension Case.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that the Claremorris Sub-Committee recommended an increase of the old age pension of Mrs. Bridget Berry last July; that an appeal against such decision is still pending; that claimant is an invalid and is over 85 years of age, and if he will state when the appeal is likely to be dealt with.

There is no record of the receipt of an appeal in the case referred to by the Deputy.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that Mrs. Bridget Ruane was recommended by the Castlebar Old Age Pensions Sub-Committee for an old age pension of 10/- per week last July, and if he will state the cause of the delay in deciding the appeal against the Sub-Committee's decision.

An appeal is at present before the Minister for adjudication, and a decision will be given at the earliest possible date. The delay in dealing with this case is due to the abnormal pressure in the Old Age Pensions Appeal Section.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that John Fox, Appeal No. H. 14074, was granted an old age pension by the Castlebar Sub-Committee on 25th November, 1933; that the appeal is still pending and if he will state the cause of the delay in dealing with the appeal.

There is no record of the receipt of an appeal in the case referred to by the Deputy.
