Vol. 52 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of Barytes Deposits.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the large quantity of barytes imported into this country for the manufacture of paint and for other uses, he will consider the question of putting an import duty on such imports so as to help the economic development of the barytes deposits in West Cork and other parts of the Free State.

Proposals as to the best means of assisting the development of the barytes deposits in the Saorstát are already under examination in my Department, but I am not prepared at this stage to indicate the form which that assistance may take.
