Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation in County Cork.

asked the Minister for Lands if any lands have been acquired for afforestation in the County of Cork within the year ended 31st March, 1934; what is the acreage and situation of such lands and how soon he expects to start the actual planting of trees on such lands.

A total area of 997 acres was acquired for afforestation in County Cork during the year ended 31st March, 1934, comprising the lands of Aultagh at Dunmanway, Glenbower Wood at Killeagh, Monaloo and Ballinteosig Mountain at Tallow. Planting operations have been already undertaken on some of those lands, and arrangements are being made to start planting on the others next season, if possible.
