Vol. 53 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recommendations of Ports Tribunal.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has yet considered the recommendations of the Ports and Harbours Tribunal issued in 1930; whether he proposes to accept these recommendations in whole or in part; and, if so, when proposals for legislation embodying these reforms in harbour administration will be introduced.

The recommendations of the Ports and Harbours Tribunal have been considered in a preliminary way. The control of harbour charges has been dealt with by the Harbours (Regulation of Rates) Act of this year. Final decisions on the recommendations dealing with other matters, and the preparation of the necessary legislation, present a formidable task, and it is not possible to say when such legislation will be introduced.
