Vol. 53 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what has been the average price of whole milk delivered to creameries in the Free State during the month of June; and what has been the average price charged by retailers in Dublin City during the same period; and whether he intends to take any steps to bring the prices charged by the distributors into conformity with the prices paid to the producers.

As regards the first part of the question, creamery owners have not yet calculated the price payable for milk delivered during the month of June. It is estimated that the average price will be between 3.8d. and 4d. a gallon; separated milk valued at 1d. a gallon being returned to the suppliers. The matters referred to in parts (2) and (3) of the question are not for my Department.
