Vol. 53 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bicycle Damaged (Loughrea).

(Galway) asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether, on the hearing of the prosecution at the suit of the Attorney-General on the 1st May, 1934, at the District Court, Loughrea, against six persons for having caused malicious damage to a bicycle to the amount of 5/-, a Mrs. Elizabeth Sheehan, The Hill, Loughrea, who was the principal witness for the State, gave evidence that the bicycle was the property of her daughter, Miss Eileen Sheehan, and that the damage alleged to have been done by the defendants had been repaired at the garage of Michael J. King, Loughrea; whether Mrs. Sheehan produced a receipt in court purporting to have been issued by the said Michael J. King for the sum of 5/- for these repairs; whether the proprietor of the garage, Michael J. King, afterwards, when he heard of the matter repudiated the receipt and stated that the bicycle was not repaired in his premises, as alleged; that he had not received any payment, and that he had not given any receipt; and whether Michael J. King communicated with the Gárda in the matter; and, if so, what action it is proposed to take.

Dr. Ryan

A summons has been issued against Mrs. Sheehan arising out of the matters referred to in the question. In these circumstances I do not think it would be proper to discuss the matter in the House.
