Vol. 54 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Damage by Clare Bog-slide.

asked the Minister for Finance whether his attention has been drawn to the damage caused by a bog-slide at Faha, Killanena, County Clare, and in particular to the plight of the farmers whose lands and property were destroyed by the slide; and if he will state if an inspector has been sent to the area to report on the disaster with a view to relief grants being provided for the unfortunate farmers, and also grants which could be used in paying for the removal of the deposit left by the slide on the lands.

The damage caused by a bog slide at Faha, County Clare, was brought to the attention of the Minister immediately after the occurrence; and an inspector was sent to the area to report. Grants have been sanctioned for the relief of unemployment and distress in the area, and the work had been in progress for some time. Any further action will be notified in due course.
