Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rebate to Tobacco Manufacturers.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number of firms of tobacco manufacturers qualified to receive the rebate under Section 20 (sub-section 3) of the Finance (20) Act, 1932, existing on the 1st June, 1932, the 1st March, 1933, and the 1st March, 1934; the total number of persons engaged by these firms on the 1st March, 1932, 1933, 1934; and the total value of the (a) gross output, (b) net output, (c) the salaries and wages paid for the years 1931, 1932 and 1933.

As the reply contains a good deal of statistical matter I propose to circulate it with the Official Report.

I. Number of tobacco firms entitled to the rebate:—
