Vol. 54 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Damage to Property Applications.

asked the Minister for Finance whether in view of the fact that many people did not see the notices in the Press under the Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) Act, 1933, in time to make applications under Section 3 of that Act he will introduce proposals for legislation to extend the time for receiving these applications.

In view of the widespread publicity given in the advertising and editorial columns of all sections of the daily and weekly Press to the procedure to be followed by applicants under the Damage to Property (Compensation) (Amendment) Act, 1933, with special reference to the latest date for the making of applications, I am not satisfied, on the information before me, that hardship was caused to people with genuine claims for compensation, and, in the circumstances, the latter part of the question does not arise.

If such information is brought to the notice of the Minister, will he undertake to consider it?

Certainly.
