Vol. 54 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Attacks in Offaly, Kerry and Wexford.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state if the persons who comprised an armed party who subjected a hall at Shannon Harbour, Offaly, on Sunday night, 7th October last, to firing sustained for some minutes, whilst a dance was in progress, have yet been identified and convicted, and, if so, if he will state what punishment has been imposed and whether the arms carried on the occasion have been traced and taken possession of by the police.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether the armed and masked man who robbed the Post Office at Lyreacrompane, near Listowel, at about 10 a.m. on the 16th November last, has been identified and convicted, and, if so, whether he will state what punishment has been imposed and whether the arms carried on the occasion have been traced and taken possession of by the police.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether any members of the party of armed and masked men who destroyed a hayshed at Coragh, County Wexford, in October last, have been identified and convicted, and, if so, if he will state what punishment has been imposed and whether the arms carried on the occasion have been traced and taken possession of by the police.

I am taking Questions 4, 7 and 10 together. The answer to the first and last part of the question in each case is in the negative. Accordingly the second part does not arise.

Will the Minister say what steps have been taken to follow up these cases?

The ordinary steps have been taken.
