Vol. 54 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Volunteers Attacked.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether the three armed and masked men who assaulted a member of the new Volunteer Force at Lismore, near Tralee, on the night of Tuesday, 27th October, have been identified and convicted and, if so, what punishment has been imposed and whether the arms carried on this occasion have been traced and taken possession of by the police.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether the persons comprising an armed party who subjected a hall at Bunegara, near Listowel, to firing on Thursday night, 11th October last, whilst members of the new Volunteer Force were drilling there, have been identified and convicted and, if so, if he will state what punishments have been imposed and whether the arms used on this occasion have been traced and taken possession of by the police.

I propose to take the next two Questions, Nos. 5 and 6, together. There have been a number of arrests in connection with these two outrages and some of the persons arrested are awaiting trial. In the circumstances it would not be proper for me to make any further statement.

Have any of the arms used on the occasion been recovered?
