Vol. 54 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Orders under Control of Imports Act.

asked the President if he will state what steps he proposes to take to circulate to members of the Oireachtas orders made under the Control of Imports Act, 1934, from time to time according as they may be made by the Executive Council and when he proposes to circulate to them the orders already made under the Act.

A copy of every order made to date under Section 3 (1) and Section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934) has been laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas.

As regards other orders made by the Executive Council under the Act, there appears to be nothing in the Act requiring or implying such presentation.

I have arranged, however, that copies of every order made by the Executive Council under the Act to date will be laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas, where such presentation has not already been made, and that copies of all such future orders will, in addition to being presented, be made available for circulation to members of both Houses.

Is the President aware that the House is being asked to discuss a large number of Orders— ten of them, I think—copies of which members have never seen or have had no opportunity of seeing?

They were available for members who were interested.

From what date?

I am afraid I cannot tell the Deputy the exact date.
