Vol. 54 No. 11

Written Answers. - Import of Sugar-making Machinery.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total value of (1) the machinery and (2) other equipment, imported in connection with the erection of the sugar beet factories at Mallow, Tuam and Thurles, and their working, and the countries from which these articles were imported.

It is not in accordance with practice to disclose information relating to the business of an individual company. Further, the particular information asked for by the Deputy is not available as the information officially required to be furnished does not necessarily indicate the use to which imports are put and in many cases the name of an importer's agent only is given as that of the importer.
