Vol. 55 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Postal Facilities.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that the absence of a night letter telegraph service is seriously impeding business in Limerick City, and, if so, if steps will be taken to set up such a service and by so doing place Limerick merchants in the same position as their Cork and Dublin competitors.

Mr. Boland

The night telegraph letter service is available only at post offices which are open for telegraph business after 9 p.m. At Limerick, telegraph business ceases at 7 p.m. and the expense of extending the hours solely for the purpose of introducing the night letter service (which is a very cheap rate service) would not be justified. At offices where the service is in operation the use made of it is inconsiderable.
