Vol. 55 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Passenger Licences.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he can state the number of road passenger licences which are now in force, the number of applications for such licences which were refused, and the number of road passenger licences which were transferred to (a) the Great Southern Railways Company; (b) the Great Northern Railways Company, and (c) the Dublin Tramways Company, and the amount of the compensation paid by each of these undertakings to the former licence holders.

The number of annual passenger licences which are now in force is 605, and the number of applications for such licences which were refused is 154. The numbers of such licences which were transferred to the Great Southern Railways Company, the Great Northern Railway Company and the Dublin United Tramways Company are 245, 23 and 65 respectively. In addition, occasional passenger licences to the respective numbers of 32,6 and 2 were transferred to these companies. I have no information as to the amount of compensation paid by these companies to the former licensees.
