Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Investigations by Prices Tribunal.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the investigations on which the Prices Commission is now engaged and indicate the inquiries already concluded by them in respect of which reports have been submitted to him.

The Prices Commission are at present engaged on investigations into:—

(1) the wholesale and retail prices charged for bread;

(2) the wholesale prices of filleted fish (cod, hake, haddock and ling), in the City and County of Dublin;

(3) wholesale and retail prices charged for fresh fish in the City and County of Dublin;

(4) the cost of all materials and appliances used in the building of houses. This investigation is by way of public inquiry under Section 17 of the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932.

Enquiries already concluded by the Commission in respect of which reports have been submitted are:—

(1) Manufacturer's price investigation into the prices charged for Mineral Hydrocarbon Heavy Oil.

(2) Manufacturer's price investigation into the prices charged for wheaten flour.

(3) Manufacturer's price investigation into the prices charged for meal milled from wheat.

(4) Manufacturer's price investigation into the prices charged for bodies for certain classes of mechanically propelled vehicles.
