Vol. 56 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal Mining.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is his intention to introduce proposals for legislation to restrict the hours of work and regulate the conditions of employment in coal mines; and, if so, when; and if he is prepared to recommend the ratification of the international convention relating to the hours of work in coal mines.

The revision of the international convention concerning the hours of work in coal mines is to be considered by the International Labour Conference in Geneva next month and it is not proposed to take any action in the direction of ratification in the meantime.
