Vol. 59 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport Facilities in Cavan.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has received a resolution passed unanimously by the Cavan County Council on 21st May and again urged on the 14th November dealing with transport in County Cavan; and if, in view of the inadequate railway facilities in the county, he will give effect to the unanimous wish of the council, who know the position and are anxious only to have an efficient service maintained, and at reasonable rates.

I duly received the resolution referred to and considered the representations it contained against the transfer of merchandise road transport licences to the railway companies. I was unable to find sufficient force in the views expressed to interfere with the general policy of the Road Transport Acts, and the transfers applied for have been made.
