Vol. 60 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Home-Grown Wheat.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the percentage of home-grown wheat required to be used in the manufacture of flour in the Free State at various times since the passing of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1934.

During the cereal years since the inception of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Act, 1933, licensed millers have been required to mill, as part of their quota, the following percentage of home-grown wheat:—

Cereal Year 1st August, 1933, to 31st July, 1934

3.5%

Cereal Year 1st August, 1934, to 31st July, 1935

10.75%

Cereal Year 1st August, 1935, to 31st August, 1936

21.5%

The prescribed percentage of home-grown wheat must be milled within the cereal year, but there is no obligation on a miller to include home-grown wheat in all flour milled by him.
