Vol. 60 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Curragh Married Quarters.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when it is proposed to undertake the erection of new married quarters at the Curragh Camp which is provided for in the public Estimates for 1935-36.

Questions relating to the design and cost of the new married quarters at the Curragh Camp are being examined, and it is not yet possible to say when the work of erection can commence.

I should like the Minister to bear in mind, in connection with the question which I addressed to him in respect of Kildare Military Barracks and the married quarters at the Curragh Camp, that there is considerable unemployment in that area; there is more there now than at any time for the past ten years.

Will the Minister take steps, in view of that condition of affairs, to expedite the preparation of the plans and the carrying out of the work, so that the large number of unemployed people in the area may be absorbed into productive employment?

I will, with due regard to the other interests involved in the matter.
