Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Undertakings.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number and location of industrial undertakings to which State property was (a) leased for a period not exceeding two years; (b) leased for two or more years; (c) sold outright during the period between 1923 and 1935, and the authority under which such transactions were effected.

During the period in question 12 industrial undertakings were granted leases of State property by the Minister for Finance for periods not exceeding two years at Athlone, Camolin, Carndonagh, Clonmel, Dublin, Haulbowline, Keel, Killaloe, Lanesborough and Nenagh. Thirty-four industrial undertakings were granted leases by the Minister for Finance for periods of more than two years at Athlone, Belturbet, Buncrana, Callan, Carrickmacross, Carrick-on-Shannon, Clonmel, Crookhaven, Donaghmore (Leix), Droichead Nua, Drogheda, Drummod (Roscommon), Dublin, Dundalk, East Ferry (County Cork), Haulbowline, Lanesborough, Letterkenny, Limerick, Mohill, Mullingar, Naas, Portumna, and Scariff. No State lands were sold outright by the Minister for Finance during the period in question. The leases were made under the provisions of the State Lands Act, 1924. Other Ministers may have disposed of State property to industrial undertakings under the provisions of the Land Acts, the Ministers and Secretaries Act, 1924, the State Lands (Workhouses) Act, 1930, the Prisons Act, 1933, and the Foreshore Act, 1933.
