Vol. 60 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Withheld Grants to County Councils.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total amount of the grants withheld from each county council in the Saorstát in respect of unpaid annuities on the 17th February, 1936, and the total of these grants; and the amount by which these sums exceed, or otherwise, the amounts so withheld from each county council on the 17th February, 1935.

The reply is in the form of a long tabular statement, which I will have inserted in the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

The total amount of the grants absorbed in the Guarantee Fund in respect of arrears of annuities at February, 1936, was £110,702 13s. 8d., made up as follows:—

As indicated in the reply to the first portion of the question, in eight counties the repayments to the Guarantee Fund in respect of arrears which had accrued up to February, 1935, exceeded draws upon the fund in respect of arrears of annuities payable at the May-June and November-December, 1935 gales.
