Written Answers. - Customs Duties.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total yield in the current financial year from the Customs duty imposed on (a) felting and felting substitutes intended for use as roofing materials or as a damp course; (b) surrounds, hearths and curbs used for fireplaces or sections of such articles; (c) metal frames and sashes suitable for doors or windows; (d) tiles made wholly or partly of cement; (e) roofing tiles of other descriptions; (f) moulds for making concrete blocks, bricks or slabs; (g) roller blinds; (h) polished or dressed stone or marble and (i) unworked marble.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the yield in the current financial year from the Customs duties imposed on (a) tea; (b) sugar and sugar confectionery; (c) wheat and (d) tobacco.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the yield in the current financial year from the Customs duties imposed on (a) asphalt, bitumen, pitch and tar; (b) linoleum; (c) oilcloth; (d) articles made of asbestos; (e) roofing slates and (f) glazed pipes and connections.

I propose to take the Deputy's three questions together. As the current financial year does not expire until the 31st instant, it will be some little time before detailed statistics become available as regards the yield for the year under particular subheads. The latest date up to which reliable figures are available is 31st December, 1935. These figures are as follows:-
