Vol. 61 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Brick Manufacture.

Mr. Brodrick

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any information to communicate to the House in connection with the revival of the brick manufacturing industry at Annaghdown, County Galway; if he has sent an inspector to investigate locally; if he has received a report and, if so, if he is prepared to disclose its nature.

The brickclay deposit in the neighbourhood of Annaghdown, County Galway, has been inspected twice by an officer of my Department. Samples of the clay were taken and examined and the results communicated to the parties concerned. It is not the practice to disclose the contents of inspectors' confidential reports.

Mr. Brodrick

Arising out of the Minister's answer, who would be the persons concerned? Is it those in the brick industry?

Those who are interested in the development of the deposit.
