Vol. 61 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Cotton

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state the amount of interlock cotton fabric and coloured fabric for outerwear imported into the Irish Free State from January, 1935, to February, 1936, or latest available date.

The official Import List of Saorstát Eireann, in accordance with which the imports have to be described, does not require particulars to be declared under the exact descriptions for which the Deputy requires information. The following are the quantities imported in the 14 months, January 1935 to February 1936, under the descriptions most closely approximating to those in the question:—

sq. yards.

Cotton piece goods, other than tabling and towelling in the piece and bandaging material

55,039,575

Cotton knitted fabric in the piece

930,705
