Vol. 61 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - O'Donoghue and Drummond Estates, County Kerry.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the rearrangement schemes in connection with the O'Donoghue Estate, Glenbeigh, and the Drummond Estate, Glencutane, Killorglin, will be completed and put into operation, and if, in view of the urgency of the matter, he will have an inspector specially detailed to expedite the matter so that the schemes involved will be brought to completion at the earliest possible date.

The Deputy appears to refer to the estates of G.C.P. O'Donoghue (Rec. No. E.C. 8669) and A.C. Drummond (Rec No. E.C. 8035), which are the subject matter of proceedings under the Land Acts of 1903-09. In the O'Donoghue Estate it is proposed to carry out extensive improvement works consisting of buildings, roads, drainage and fencing, and these works will be undertaken as soon as possible. The rearrangement of the holdings themselves is not contemplated. In the Drummond Estate a scheme of regulations under Section 21, Irish Land Act, 1903, and Section 42, Land Act, 1923, in respect of turbary situated within the ambit of eight vested holdings at Glencutane Lower, has been formulated and objections thereto have been disposed of. Owing, however, to the cutting of portion of the turbary intended for allotment, it has been found necessary to have a re-survey made of the bogs, and the matter is now engaging attention.
