Vol. 62 No. 3

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployed Clerical Workers in Dublin.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number of clerical workers (1) male, and (2) female, registered as unemployed in the Dublin registration area on the 31st March, 1935; on the 31st March, 1936; and the number of these drawing (1) unemployment insurance, and (2) unemployment assistance on these dates.

On 1st April, 1935, the numbers in clerical occupations on the live register at the Dublin Employment Exchange were 491 males and 313 females. The corresponding figures for 6th April, 1936, were 520 males and 252 females. The numbers with claims or applications current to unemployment insurance or unemployment assistance are classified by "industries" and not by "occupations." The numbers of individuals paid unemployment insurance or unemployment assistance are not classified by "industries" or "occupations." Accordingly the particulars required in the second part of the question are not available.
