Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of applications for pensions received up to the 30th June, 1936, under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934; the number of persons in each military rank to whom pensions have been granted, and the annual cost of such pensions.

The number of applications received up to 30th June, 1936, is 52,017. The number of pensions granted is 1,567, made up as follows:—

Grade A

Grade B

17

Grade C

103

Grade D

470

Grade E

966

The annual gross cost of the pensions granted is £61,590 4s. 6d.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say approximately at what rate it is hoped to deal with the remaining applications?
