Vol. 63 No. 19

Written Answer. - Military Service Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Defence if he received an application from John Logan, formerly of Baltimore, Co. Cork, and now resident in California, for compensation for injuries received while imprisoned in England during 1916; whether he is aware that Mr. Logan was confined in an English prison hospital for nine months as a result of the said injuries; that he was subsequently released on parole to enable him to obtain further treatment in a Cork hospital, and if any decision has yet been reached on the application.

On the 9th September, 1934, a communication was received from Mr. Logan setting out particulars of his case and inquiring as to compensation. He was informed on the 26th October, 1934, that the latest date for making application under the Army Pensions Act, 1932, was the 9th December, 1933, and that in consequence his application could not be considered.

Mr. Logan was afforded an opportunity of having his case dealt with under the Army Pensions Act, 1923, a prescribed form of application having been sent to him on the 1st April, 1924, and on the 20th June, 1924. Neither form was returned by Mr. Logan to my Department.
