Vol. 192 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cross-Channel Parcel Post from South-East Ireland.

60.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider having the parcel post from South East Ireland sent to South Wales and Southern England on the Waterford to Fishguard or Rosslare to Fishguard route.

For operational and financial reasons it is not feasible to use either of the routes referred to for conveyance of parcel mails.

I am not interested in operational and financial reasons.

It is very hard to carry on the business of this House——

——with that going on. Is the Minister aware that the parcel post from my constituency and the south-east will have to go to Dublin, even though many of the parcels will be addressed to South Wales? They lose two days. There will be a big perishable parcel post coming on to Christmas, and I would ask the Minister if he would be prepared to have this matter investigated. This service was in being before.

This is very like a speech.

There would be a good deal of difficulty in meeting the Deputy's wishes, but I suppose there is no harm in having it looked at again.

Now, that was not a speech.
