Vol. 64 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Destruction by Rabbits.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that farmers are suffering serious loss through the destruction of their crops and fences by rabbits, and if he will have inquiries made in the matter with a view to having the export bounty increased, so as to attract more trappers to go after the pests.

The necessity for keeping the rabbit pest under control has been receiving my attention. I am not satisfied that in existing circumstances an increase in the rate of export bounty is desirable but the question of taking supplementary measures for the destruction of rabbits is under consideration.

What sort of measures are under consideration?

Dr. Ryan

Other measures.

What kind of other measures?

Dr. Ryan

Other measures that may get rid of the rabbits.

That is very illuminating.
