Vol. 65 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abstract of Conditions of Employment Act.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if an abstract of the Conditions of Employment Act was prepared officially by his Department; whether steps were taken to inform occupiers of industrial undertakings that copies of this abstract are available; whether he will state further the number of firms which have exhibited copies of the abstract and the other notices they are required to exhibit under the Act, and whether proceedings were instituted, or are in contemplation, against occupiers of industrial establishments which have failed to exhibit the abstract or other notices in question.

The abstract of the Conditions of Employment Act has been prepared and is at present being printed. I hope to have it made available at an early date. The form of Notice of Hours of Work has already been prescribed in the Conditions of Employment (No. 1) Order. I am arranging to have printed copies of this form also available at an early date.

No complaints have reached the Department that employers have failed to exhibit the other notices required to be exhibited by the Act.
