Vol. 65 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inspection under Conditions of Employment Act.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of whole-time inspectors appointed for the purpose of securing compliance with the Conditions of Employment Act.

The duty of securing compliance with the Conditions of Employment Act rests on the inspectorate responsible for the enforcement of the Factory and Workshops Acts, etc. This staff consists at present of one chief inspector, two senior inspectors and 12 industrial inspectors. Two of these were appointed recently and three additional inspectors will be appointed within the next few weeks.
