Vol. 67 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Rundale Estates or C.D.B. Estates in Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Irish Land Commission propose taking any steps in the near future for the purpose of dealing with what are known as rundale estates, commonly known as C.D.B. estates, County Mayo, and if any scheme is being considered for the purpose of division and settlement of these estates.

Owing mainly to the work entailed in connection with the pressing problem of the division of untenanted land it has not been possible for the Land Commission to proceed as rapidly as they would have wished with the completion of the rearrangement and resale of a number of estates inherited by them from the Congested Districts Board. They hope to be able almost immediately to set aside a certain amount of staff to deal solely with this work and they anticipate that satisfactory results will follow in Mayo, as well as in other congested counties, within the next few years.
