Vol. 69 No. 6

Written Answers. - Acquisition of County Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will now state the cause of delay by the Irish Land Commission in acquiring, for the relief of congestion, the untenanted farm of land on the Flatley estate, Cloonlara, Clare-morris, held by Thomas J. Harley, U.S.A.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission decided to take proceedings for the resumption of the holding of Mr. Thomas J. Harley for the purpose of relieving local congestion and they published a notice (dated 11th June, 1937) of intention to apply to the Appeal Tribunal for leave to resume the lands. The solicitors for the tenant asked that a reasonable length of time be given to communicate with their client and this request was acceded to. No intimation has yet been received by the Land Commission as to whether or not the tenant intends to present a petition against resumption. In the absence of consent by the tenant no further steps can be taken at present.
