Vol. 69 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Subsidies on Houses.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if, in view of the fact that various urban authorities are holding back their housing schemes in consequence of the increased cost of building, he will now indicate his decision regarding payment of subsidies on houses costing over £300.

I am informing the Association of Municipal Authorities this week that it has been decided to fix £350 as the amount on which subsidy will be payable in respect of houses provided for the housing of persons removed from slum areas.

Does that extend to the building of labourers' cottages?

I am not certain on that point.

Perhaps the Minister will look into that.

It refers to urban areas, of course.
