Vol. 69 No. 11

Public Business. - Supplementary Estimate—Leave to Introduce.

I move:

That leave be given by the Dáil to introduce the following Supplementary Estimate for the service of the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1938, namely:—

Vote No. 67—External Affairs.

What is it about?

About External Affairs, and the sum is £10.

What are the £10 for?

For the purposes set out on the face of the Estimate.

We have not got it. All that we have here is simply "External Affairs."

I am only moving for leave to introduce.

Give us an indication of what it is about.

Yes, give us some explanation. The Minister can have his choice of five minutes in walking through the Lobby or of two minutes' explanation.

It is for the purpose of the establishment of a Legation in Rome.

Thanks very much.

We are very thankful. It is a pity the silent Minister could not be there.

It is a pity the Minister is not always silent.

When will the Estimate be taken?

It is proposed to take it on Thursday. It will be circulated this evening. I say that because that is the information usually asked for.

And I suppose the Minister himself will read it this evening?

Estimate ordered to be taken next Thursday.
