Vol. 69 No. 12

Written Answers. - Congestion in Bohola (Mayo).

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the acute congestion that exists on the Colonel Jordan estate at Tooromeen, Bohola, County Mayo, and that tenants living on this estate are unable to avail of the Housing Acts owing to the unsettled condition of their holdings, and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken to remedy this state of affairs.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission are aware of the congestion existing on the estate of Colonel Jordan, and prior to the revesting of the holdings in the tenants they will consider what means can be adopted to relieve the congestion. A survey of these holdings has been made, and an area of 103 acres of untenanted land has recently been acquired from Colonel Jordan. The question of the preparation of a scheme for the rearrangement of the holdings is under investigation, and consideration will be given to the housing requirements of the tenants.
