Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment in Waterford.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number of persons registered as unemployed in (a) Waterford City, and (b) Waterford County during the years 1931 to 1936, inclusive.

The particulars which the Deputy requires will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following are the particulars:—

Numbers on the Registers of Waterford Employment Exchange and of the Branch Employment Offices situated in the County of Waterford on the last Monday of the Months of March, June, September and December in the years 1931 to 1936 (inclusive).

NOTE.—This Table refers to the numbers of persons on the Registers at the different Offices, and not necessarily to the persons resident in the specified areas.

(b) Payment of Unemployment Assistance was first made (under the Unemployment Assistance Act, 1933) at the end of April, 1934.

(c) Lismore Branch Employment Office included in June, 1934, for first time.
