Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enforcement of Court Orders Act.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state (a) the number of persons imprisoned during each of the last seven years under the provisions of Section 18 of the Enforcement of Court Orders Act, 1926; (b) the average total sum for the recovery of which the proceedings terminating in imprisonment were instituted; (c) the average total sum awarded by way of costs, and (d) the average duration of the period of imprisonment.

The answer is in the form of a table which will appear in the Official Report.

Following is the table:—

RETURN showing (a) the number of persons imprisoned during each of the last seven years (1931-1937), under the provisions of Section 18 of the Enforcement of Court Orders Act, 1926; (b) the average total sum for the recovery of which the proceedings terminating in imprisonment were instituted; (c) the average total sum awarded by way of costs, and (d) the average duration of the period of imprisonment.
