Vol. 69 No. 20

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Finglas Waterworks Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what is the present position regarding the Finglas waterworks scheme, and if he will state the reasons for withholding sanction in this case to the water-tower design which is similar to that adopted by the board of health for Rush waterworks scheme some years ago.

As regards the first part of the question, the plans have been approved with the exception of the design for a water tower. The preparation of a revised design has been entrusted by the board of health to a consulting engineer. As regards the second part, it was considered that an improvement in the design submitted for the water tower at Rush could be secured by a rearrangement of the steel reinforcement and that such improvement should be incorporated in a fresh design for Finglas.
