Vol. 69 No. 20

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unqualified Opticians.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has any power under the existing law to prohibit unqualified persons practising as opticians, or to proceed against newspapers and periodicals which publish advertisements in which unqualified persons describe themselves as opticians; whether any prosecutions, and, if so, how many, have been taken against any persons in this connection during the last five years, and whether, if he is not authorised by law to take the proceedings mentioned, he is prepared to ask the Dáil to give him these powers.

I have not the powers mentioned by the Deputy, and I do not propose to ask the Dáil to give me such powers.
